About Tom Burland
I am currently a Real Estate Agent in Madison, Guilford, Branford, Clinton, Killingworth and Westbrook Connecticut. The Connecticut Shoreline has been a part of my life from the very start. Born in Branford, spending summers visiting vacationing relatives in Madison and high school years enjoying Hammonassett Beach , a shoreline home was my goal. Helen and I first settled in Branford, then Guilford for several years and finally in Madison for the past 14 years.
When I decided to change careers after 27 years in corporate sales, the choice seemed obvious, do what you enjoy doing in a place that you love. So I joined Coldwell Banker in Madison specializing in residential real estate. My career took me many places in several companies always climing a rung higher. Since 1999 I led an outstanding team of sales professionals as Sales Vice President for AT&T in New England. My team successfully finished 2004 and 2005 as the top sales team in AT&T, navigating a difficult market and industry. This experience has given me an invaluable set of skills that assists buyers and sellers.

- Listening skills - I believe we were given 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason, and try to use them in that proportion. I need to understand what a client is looking for before I start to help.
- Understanding - I know this is a complex, emotional process (either buying or selling) and understand that your wants and needs may change along the way.
I have been blessed to live in this area for my entire life, it is truely a wonderful area. I am also 3rd generation New Haven County so have a wide range of experience from Milford to Wallingford, Woodbridge to Old Saybrook. Our five children have given us the opportunity to explore many venues in the area.

Having managed a team of over 100 people and a $250M/yr business with well over 1,000 clients I have the skills to smooth things over when there are bumps in the road and the management dicipline to make sure the activities that need to get done to complete a purchase are completed. Many people think the deal is sealed on offer acceptance, I know it is not done until the closing is compete.
