Summer or Winter nothing beats being close to the water. One of the bonuses and attractions of the Madison, Guilford, Branford, Clinton, Killingworth area is their proximity to a variety of water resources. Most notable is Long Island Sound.  In addition there are tidal rivers, the Connecticut River as well as an abundance of lakes in the area.  This provides a great opportunity to enjoy the sun, swim, sail, power boat, water ski, fish and kayak.  These are some of the many recreational activities people searching for a home in the area are looking for.

                                                                               

  




Area Beaches

 

Guilford: Jacobs Beach and Lake Quonnipaug are the local Beaches.


Madison: The Surf Club, East Warf and West Warf are the town beaches complimented by Hamonnassett State Park Connecticut’s largest state beach and camp ground.

 

Clinton: Town Beach, Esposito Beach

 

Killingworth: Chatfield Hollow State Park, access to Clinton Beaches.
 
Branford:  Branford Point

 

Boating

 

Tide Tables: Available at Connecticut DEP Tides

 

Boating Certifications: Connecticut requires the operators of any recreational vessel to have a Safe Boating Certificate (SBC) and operators of Personal Water Craft (Jet Ski type) to have a Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation (CPWO).  Additional information can be found at Connecticut DEP Certificates .

 

Navigation:  NOAA Charts 12373 and 12374 cover the coastal area and can be purchased through any approved dealer including West Marine in Old Saybrook or Clinton West Marine or Cedar Island  Marina in Clinton Cedar Island Marina or on line at Amnautical

: Coastal Moorings are regulated by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection DEP Permits
